KOTA KINABALU: Budget 2025, tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 18), should act as a cornerstone for sustainable development in Sabah, says Fahmi Fadzil.
The Communications Minister highlighted that several aspects of the national budget, emphasised by the Prime Minister, require focused attention, such as the Madani Adopted Village Initiative.
"The Prime Minister also urged ministers, including the Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, to adopt specific villages to gain a deeper understanding of their communities and explore collaborative solutions between federal and state governments to address their issues.
"Moreover, the Prime Minister highlighted the initiatives led by the Sabah Chief Minister to promote the blue economy, stressing the significance of marine resources in fisheries and renewable energy," Fahmi said during the Madani Rakyat 2024 Sayangi Sabah programme, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday (Oct 19).
Regarding the programme, Fahmi said that he and the Prime Minister’s Office would review the benefits, costs, and considerations necessary for future improvements.
"If the Prime Minister wishes to implement a similar programme, potentially with some adjustments, we will streamline its format to effectively communicate all the government plans, including everything announced in Budget 2025.
"We will also use the National Information Dissemination Center (Nadi) for this initiative," he added. – Bernama
