WHETHER you’re craving adventure, relaxation or cultural immersion, there’s no better time to seize the perfect opportunity to travel and explore, especially with the upcoming Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2024.
Showcasing the beauty and diversity of Malaysia’s destinations, the inaugural event introduced this year by Tourism Malaysia will span three days from Oct 25-27 at Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex on Jalan Conlay.
Organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation (Kraftangan Malaysia), the carnival will feature various attractive travel package promotions from over 100 industry representatives, offering discounts ranging from 15% to 50%.
Themed “Crafting Holidays”, the carnival provides an opportunity for visitors to look for the best local travel deals while enjoying hands-on experiences and activities related to local arts, crafts and cultural heritage.
The event aims to attract more than 10,000 visitors from Klang Valley, Perak and Negri Sembilan, to showcase local handicrafts and our nation’s rich cultural heritage.
Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan stated that, through the carnival, visitors can make vacation plans at affordable prices while exploring the unique heritage of Malaysia’s arts and crafts.
“This event also serves as a catalyst to boost the local economy. It is the best platform for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote their products while boosting the domestic tourism industry,” he said.
Among the attractions on show at Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2024 include theme park activities by GL PLay, Resorts World Genting and SuperPark with One World Group at the marquee tent.
Visitors can also participate in various activities such as tourism quizzes and lucky draws.
Additionally, carnival-goers will even get to enjoy live performances by various local artistes such as singers Dayang Nurfaizah, Shiha Zikir, Zamani Slam, Wani Hasrita, Hazama, Haziq Rosebi, Suki Low and Zynakal, alongside Gimme the Mic virtual talent show singer Raes Arifin.
The event will be hosted by singer-actors Izzue Islam and Achey Bocey.
There will also be buskers, cultural dance performances and handicraft and heritage food demonstrations, as well as flying roti canai and teh tarik pouring demonstrations.
Apart from the diverse activities and performances, the carnival will play host to the Saloma Market.
Themed “Classical Malay Village”, the market features over 30 stalls offering various traditional dishes, snacks and unique craft products, creating a nostalgic atmosphere for all visitors. For visitor convenience, there will be shuttle services provided to the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex, which will be available from the Malaysia Design Development Centre (DDEC) and Malaysian Tourism Centre (MaTiC).
Visitors can also use public transport such as the MRT and the KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus.
A mobile clinic will also be available on-site in case of emergencies.
Ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, Tourism Malaysia will take more proactive and aggressive measures to boost the domestic tourism industry.
These efforts aim to attract local tourists to travel within the country, in line with the organisation’s goal to achieve 261 million domestic visitors and generate a total spending of RM115.2bil by 2026.
