Falling tree kills ice cream vendor in Pahang


KUANTAN: A Cambodian ice cream vendor lost his life when a tree fell on him while he was riding his motorcycle along Jalan Air Terjun Sungai Pandan, Felda Panching, on Saturday (Oct 19), Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer told Sinar Harian that the department had received an emergency call on the incident at 4.55pm Saturday.

A team from the Taman Tas Fire Station was dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.

The victim had been extricated by members of the public before the fire brigade arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"When the rescuers arrived, they found that the victim had already been removed by the public and was confirmed dead at the scene. The fallen tree that struck the victim had also been cleared by the public," Zulfadli told Sinar Harian.

He added that the team conducted monitoring at the location before concluding the operation at 6:07pm.
