Johoreans want less red tape, improved efficiency

JOHOREANS hope to see less red tape and better efficiency from government agencies following the tabling of Budget 2025 by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Corporate communications manager Dawson Yeang hailed the government’s move to make Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) a one-stop centre for the people to submit applications for government approvals and initiatives.

“Dealing with government agencies or applying for government assistance tends to be a chore.

“We often have to apply for leave from work just to spend one or two days travelling between various government offices to get our applications approved.

“I like that the Prime Minister is aware of the hassle we go through and has decided to make UTC a centralised place to put an end to that,” said the 36-year-old.

“I hope the government agencies will cooperate in this matter and improve their efficiency to make it a reality.”

In his Budget 2025 speech in Parliament yesterday, Anwar said the Madani government aims to put an end to long queues at government offices and encourage applications to be done online.

“The government has provided various forms of assistance to help the rakyat but sometimes, it is a complicated process for them as it involves multiple agencies requesting similar information.

“We have agreed to make UTC a centralised channel to provide ease to the people,” Anwar added.

Meanwhile, Communications executive Muhammad Ariff Mohamad Nizam, 32, lauded the government’s move to increase allocation and put more focus on technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

“The government seems to be committed to developing and empowering TVET, which is an important move as the country moves towards meeting the needs of investors and the industries.

“This will be particularly important for sectors such as manufacturing, semiconductors and artificial intelligence,” he said, adding that it would also add value to the country’s economic growth.

Anwar also announced that the government will be empowering those pursuing TVET programmes with an RM7.5bil allocation.
