KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has taken proactive measures to implement initiatives outlined in Budget 2025, aiming to fulfil the government's agenda of safeguarding the well-being of both the people and the nation, says Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.
The JPJ director-general revealed that one such initiative involves improving counter services by extending operating hours by an additional hour to expedite public services.
"This measure has been in place since Aug 19 to facilitate customer transactions and provide additional time for accessing JPJ services," he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 19).
"Furthermore, JPJ will offer kiosk services at strategic locations for public convenience,” he added.
This initiative aligns with the implementation of the Sentuhan Madani Kiosk, providing an additional service channel and enhancing service delivery at government agency counters.
In line with digital transformation, Aedy Fadly highlighted JPJ's support for the government's initiative of a single log-in application via MyDigital ID, designed to centralise access to all agency services.
He mentioned that JPJ would collaborate with Mimos Bhd to achieve seamless and back-end integration of the single log-in feature on the MyJPJ application.
Additionally, proceeds from the sale of special registration numbers (NPI) would be directed to assist those in need.
During the Budget 2025 presentation on Friday (Oct 18), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced plans to enhance the functionality and user experience of MyDigital ID, supporting the digital transformation agenda.
Anwar also stated that proceeds from NPI sales would be utilised to assist those in need, including covering motorcycle licence fees for 15,000 underprivileged youths, such as students and job seekers.
The funds would also facilitate the purchase of flight tickets for 60,000 underprivileged students, especially from Sabah and Sarawak, to return home.
Additionally, 67,000 families in need would receive free helmets to ensure children's safety.
"During the Budget 2025 presentation, the government approved the installation of High Speed Weight in Motion (HS-WiM) systems at selected locations to prevent road accidents caused by overloaded vehicles.
"This technology will allow for the dynamic weighing of vehicle loads while in motion, thereby enhancing real-time enforcement efficiency,” Aedy Fadly concluded. – Bernama
