PETALING JAYA: A second police report has been lodged against two people previously charged and convicted of cyberbullying the late social media influencer Rajeswary Appahu.
The new report was filed by a woman on Sept 30 at the Bukit Jalil police station. The complainant, a close friend of Rajeswary’s, was in India when their photo was allegedly uploaded on TikTok on the night of June 30 until the early hours of July 1.
In her report, the 40-year-old complainant claimed that the duo subjected her to mental distress through insults and vulgar comments directed at her, her husband, and her profession as a broadcast journalist. She claimed that one of them, a man, threatened to rape and kill both her and Rajeswary, and that friends and family saw the viral recording, which caused her severe mental distress.
The complainant further claimed that the man called her a prostitute and demanded that she expose her body and private parts on TikTok. The report also stated that he verbally abused her husband and accused her of infidelity while she was in India.
Additionally, the complainant alleged that he threatened to injure and stomp her private parts with safety boots.
The man, facing two charges, is currently in jail after receiving a concurrent 12-month sentence for each charge.
The complainant also alleged that another person, a woman, taunted her by calling her homeless and threatened to injure her.
During a live TikTok session, this particular woman allegedly threatened to slap both the complainant and her mother.
The court found this woman guilty of threatening to slap Rajeswary and fined her a mere RM100.
The complainant clarified that she was filming a commissioned documentary in Tamil Nadu at the time of the incident and after Rajeswary’s death, which prevented her from returning from India to file a police report.
