Ummu Atiyah to point out her alleged confinement site, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Ummu Atiyah - the eldest daughter of the late Al-Arqam leader Ashaari Muhammad - is set to identify the location where she alleges she was held for around a month, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain

Astro Awani reports that the 41-year-old will be taken to a Global Ikhwan Services and Business (GISB) Holdings Sdn Bhd village in Batu Hampar, Perak on Sunday (Oct 20) and added that her presence at the site is crucial for ongoing investigations.

"She has been summoned to indicate the house or building where she was allegedly confined," he said on Saturday (Oct 19).

Razarudin said that according to Ummu Atiyah, the village hosts a number of adolescents and adults aged 13 and above.

He added that she claims to have been locked in a single-story house room furnished with a mattress and a wardrobe, with access to electricity.

"She reported that her room was locked from the outside and food was delivered to her. At times, she ate with other villagers.

She was confined for nearly a month but was free to roam the village and was occasionally escorted out to purchase personal items," said Razaruddin

He added that she was not allowed to use a phone

Authorities are currently investigating Ummu Atiyah's claims of abuse and confinement by members of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH).

She provided a statement at the Kuala Sungai Baru Police Station in Melaka on September 24, which has prompted further investigations.

The police are actively searching for four men implicated in Ummu Atiyah's alleged detention, as part of an investigation under Section 342 of the Penal Code.

There are media reports of Ummu Atiyah accused of being subjected to violence and raped by a GISB leader. According to her, this occurred after she was coerced into marrying a GISB leader in 2015.

Previously, Razarudin said the victim, the eldest of eight siblings, had previously received psychiatric treatment at Taiping Hospital in 2018.

She is currently dependent on treatment and medication from Melaka Hospital, he added.

“The process of obtaining the victim’s medical report and statement is ongoing," said Razarudin.
