Anwar signs off on RM50,000 donation to writer’s group

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has donated RM50,000 to refurbish facilities at the House of the Malaysia National Writers Association (Pena) in government support to elevate the fields of writing and national literature, announced Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a Facebook post on Monday (Oct 21), Anwar said that the donation was presented by his political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, who met with Pena representatives on his behalf recently, to discuss efforts to uplift the nation's writing and literary landscape.

Anwar said the meeting was a follow-up to the dialogue session he had with seven national laureates last June, which brainstormed ideas to empower artistic, cultural, and literary development in the country.

"Insya-Allah, the outcome of this discussion and donation will help Pena continue to play a vital role in nurturing talent, preserving intellectualism and empowering the voices of local writers.

"This is also part of the efforts to turn the House of PENA as a central hub for literary, language and cultural activities,” he added. - Bernama

The House, located on Jalan Lapangan Terbang Lama here is used as a meeting place for writers and Pena activists to share ideas, said a Dec 25, 2021 post on the group's Facebook page.
