Man dies in crash with lorry after losing control of car in Ulu Tiram


JOHOR BARU: A 43-year-old man died after losing control of his car and collided with a lorry at Batu 15, Jalan Sungai Tiram, Ulu Tiram, here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred last Thursday (Oct 17) at 10.30am when the victim was driving alone and veered into the opposite lane.

“The victim was travelling alone, heading towards Kampung Sungai Tiram when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle.

“His car veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with the lorry driven by a 41-year-old,” he said in a statement here on Monday (Oct 21).

Following the impact, the victim was trapped inside his car, he added.

“The Fire and Rescue Department managed to extricate the victim from the wreckage, but he sustained severe injuries to multiple parts of his body and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.

He added that the lorry driver did not suffer any injuries.

“The public is urged to always adhere to road rules and traffic regulations, particularly during peak hours when commuting to and from work.

“Motorists are advised to exercise caution, especially when driving at night,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
