CHINESE actress Fan Bingbing (pic) has become the unofficial tourism ambassador for Kedah after uploading images of her recent visit to Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar, reported China Press.

The 43-year-old, who previously served as Melaka’s tourism ambassador, took a break from filming for Mother Bhumi, the latest film from Malaysian director Chong Keat Aun.

“Taking a break amid the hectic filming schedule, the director accompanied me on a tour around Kedah,” the actress wrote on her social media.

Apart from enjoying local cuisine, Fan visited local attractions such as the Kedah Royal Museum, Alor Setar Tower, Zahir Mosque and Pekan Cina.

Photos of her in a headscarf and a dark full-length dress while visiting Masjid Zahir caught the attention of Internet users, who praised the actress for her looks.

Fan portrays a widowed farmer who doubles as a witch doctor in Chong’s latest project.

Her character encounters a ghost in the story who helps her unravel the mystery surrounding her husband’s death.

> China Press also reported on a man in China who experienced a painful lesson when his mobile phone fell onto his face, resulting in a chipped tooth.

The 27-year-old was lying in bed and using his phone when his hands slipped, resulting in the device falling and striking his front teeth. He consulted a dentist the following day and received a root canal treatment.

A week later, the dentist placed a ceramic crown on it and the man expressed his embarrassment regarding the painful incident. “I could weep reflecting on how foolish I was,” he said.

The man expressed his hope that this incident would discourage others from using their mobile phones while lying in bed.
