Foreigner killed in fight in Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: A foreign worker has been killed in a fight on Jalan Kemajuan Perindustrian 4 here, say police.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said police received information about a bloodied body of a 30-year-old man at around 12.30am on Tuesday (Oct 22) morning.

"Police arrested a 38-year-old foreign man along Jalan Batu 25 near Jalan Johor here between 2am and 4am," he said on Tuesday.

Supt Yusof police seized a mobile phone and a shirt with bloodstains that the suspect wore during the altercation.

"However, the police are still searching for the murder weapon. The suspect tested negative for drugs and did not have a criminal record," he said.

He added investigations show that the suspect and the victim argued over an unpaid debt.

"Both were under the influence of alcohol," he added.

Supt Yusof said the victim's body was sent to Sultan Ismail Hospital for a post-mortem examination and that the suspect had been remanded until Monday (Oct 28).

He added that police have classified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
