T'ganu cops seized drugs worth RM3.6mil from January to September

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu police seized RM3.6mil worth of drugs in the first nine months of the year.

State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin said the seizures involved 789.71kg of drugs in solid form and 6,825.51 litres in liquid form.

He said a total of 1,044 investigation papers were opened under Sections 39B, 39A(2) and 39(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

"The seizures included yaba pills, syabu, heroin, ganja, erimin 5 pills, ketum juice, ketum leaves, cough mixture and psychotropic pills," he said at a ceremony to hand over seized drugs for disposal by the state Narcotics Crime Investigation Department.

"In addition, 2,330 cases under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952 were also opened."

Also present was state deputy police chief Datuk Wan Rukman Wan Hassan.

Meanwhile, DCP Khairi said a total of 24,306.74kg and 1,989.27 litres of assorted drugs valued at an estimated RM2.3mil were disposed of on Tuesday.

He said the drugs, which included methamphetamine, syabu, heroin, ganja and ecstasy, involved 2,958 investigation papers from 1991 to this year. – Bernama
