Bung wants cops to investigate claim of deceased Sabahan stripped of jewellery

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin wants police to open an investigation into claims that a deceased Sabahan was stripped of the jewellery.

"The incident happened on Oct 1 involving a Sabahan working in Setapak. He had a heart attack and managed to drive home but died," said the Kinabatangan MP.

He said police at the scene had to call the Fire and Rescue Department to open the car door.

"The body was retrieved and photographs were taken," he said when debating Budget 2025 in Parliament on Wednesday (Oct 23).

Bung said that the parents of the deceased flew to Kuala Lumpur to arrange his funeral.

"Photographs taken by the Fire and Rescue Department showed that the deceased was wearing a gold bracelet and chain given to him by his parents.

"But in photos taken during police investigations, the gold items were missing," he claimed, adding that the parents of the deceased had since lodged a police report.

"They are not blaming the police but want an investigation to determine who stole the items," he said.

Earlier, the outspoken politician also questioned the lack of specialist doctors in his constituency.

"If someone is involved in a road accident, he has to be sent from Kinabatangan to Sandakan for treatment," he said, adding that they could die during the journey.
