Marine police seize illegal fireworks, booze worth RM60,000 in Johor


JOHOR BARU: The Marine Police Region II has seized a stash of fireworks and alcohol with unpaid duties at a shop in Masai here worth at RM60,000.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said a Marine Police Region II team carried out Ops Taring Landai at the shop located on Jalan Kota 2/2, Taman Cahaya Kota Puteri, at around 9pm on Tuesday (Oct 22) night.

He said checks revealed 26 boxes of unlicensed fireworks and 183 cans of beer.

"We also found two boxes containing 24 bottles of liquor," he said here on Wednesday (Oct 23).

Supt Mohd Sohaimi added that during the operation, police also detained a local woman in her 40s.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act and Section 8 of the Explosives Act.

Supt Mohd Sohaimi urged the public to lodge a report at the nearest police station or contact THE Seri Alam police hotline at 07-3861 422 if they know of any criminal activity.
