Pavilions representing each state to be set up during next year's Asean summit, says Mat Sabu

PETALING JAYA: Pavilions representing each state will be set up during the Asean Summit next year, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

The Agriculture and Food Security Minister said there will be 14 pavilions set up which aim to feature the unique culture, food, and local products of each state, including one for the federal territories.

He said the details for the setup of each pavilion are currently being discussed and will be revealed at a later date.

“The Cabinet made the decision in a meeting last week following the success of this year’s Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism Exhibition (MAHA) which exceeded all expectations.

“This will enable us to showcase our local culture to an international audience, making us more recognisable globally and increasing our local products' global marketability.

“The eventual goal will be for us to possibly expand MAHA to a global level if this is successful,” he told reporters at the MAHA media appreciation dinner here on Wednesday (Oct 23).
