What caused Ipoh blast? Perak PAS demands government explanation

IPOH: The government should officially explain the cause of the mysterious explosion that occurred here a few days ago, says Perak PAS.

Its commissioner Razman Zakaria said the party together with the Ipoh community wanted to know what had caused the explosion.

He said such mysterious explosions have occurred before but have not been explained by the authorities yet.

“This sort of explosion had occurred in 2012, 2018, and the latest that happened on Monday (Oct 23)

“What is extremely surprising is that all these explosions happened around 11am.

“It looks like it is happening every six years, and if this is the case, the mystery is something big and needs an official statement from the government,” he said in a statement issued on Wednesday (Oct 23).

On Monday a loud bang was heard across Ipoh, with some buildings also shaken from the incident.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris had said that various agencies have been consulted, but nothing of significance has been uncovered yet.

Razman added that several government agencies have denied that they had anything to do with the mysterious explosion.

He said most recently, the Royal Malaysian Air Force denied the possibility of a supersonic effect brought up by an expert.

“So the denial of the relevant authorities does not carry any meaning, until and unless there is an official statement from the government.

“This official statement is important for reference and accountability for any actions that will take place.

“So Perak PAS insists that a thorough investigation be carried out, and an official statement from the state or federal government should be made,” he said.

Razman said this was the right thing to do to answer questions about the incident that have happened repeatedly and remains a mystery that worries the people of Perak, especially those staying in Ipoh.
