A MOTHER in China who gave birth to twin boys a few years ago was pleasantly surprised to learn she is now carrying triplets, China Press reported.

Meng Yang, 29, who was wishing for a girl, was astonished when she gained 20kg during her pregnancy.

Her gynaecologist confirmed she is having triplets and advised her to abort one of the foetuses because her life could be in danger.

“There is a chance I could lose my life... of course, I am scared. But I just can’t bear to part with them, especially after seeing them during the ultrasound scan,” said the resident of Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province.

Meng noted that only one in 700,000 pregnancy resulted in triplets and it was fate that brought them together.

She also said she was aware that raising three more kids would strain their finances as the whole family relied only on her husband’s salary of between 7,000 and 8000 yuan (RM4,200 to RM4,800).

“I know it will be tiring bringing them up, but I really love them,” she said, adding that her only wish is to see her children grow up healthy and happy.

When asked if she planned to have any more children after this, she said no.
