Keningau district police investigate disappearance of two vocational college students

KOTA KINABALU: Police are trying to locate a pair of teenagers from Sabah’s interior Keningau district who have been missing since Oct 20.

Keningau district police chief Supt Yampil Garai confirmed that the families of the two teenagers—Natelia Vanessa Rosman, 17; and Aaron Carter Lim, 19—have lodged separate reports over their disappearance on Tuesday (Oct 22).

According to him, Natelia’s older sister had realised she was missing from their home at Kampung Pagansangan in Apin-Apin on Sunday (Oct 20).

Efforts to contact Natelia’s mobile phone were also futile, he added.

“A search through her friends and a vocational college also proved fruitless. The college had confirmed she did not attend classes,” he said when contacted on Thursday (Oct 24).

Supt Yampil said Natelia was last seen wearing a red shirt and short black pants when she left home.

“Natelia’s motive for leaving home and her family is still unclear.

“Efforts are underway to locate the girl, and I urge those with information of her whereabouts to contact the police immediately,” he said.

Supt Yampil said Aaron last contacted his family on Sunday, asking them for money to pay for transportation to the state’s southwestern Papar district for a getaway.

He said that the teenager failed to return home the next day, adding that the family lodged a report after calls to his phone were unanswered.

Aaron is also a vocational college student, he said, and he was on a study sabbatical from Oct 20 to Nov 4.

Photos of the missing teenagers have gone viral on social media since Thursday morning.
