MBDK accused of being overzealous on parking issue

A GROUP of NGOs has slammed authorities for the sudden surge in parking enforcement and towing of vehicles in Klang’s Little India, Makkal Osai reported.

The leaders of more than 15 NGOs attended a gathering led by Persatuan Perpaduan Sejahtera Kebangsaan president Selventhiran Muniandy to discuss the matter.

It is well known that Jalan Tengku Kelana has a parking shortage, especially during festive seasons, the group said, adding that the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) should stop towing vehicles until Deepavali is over.

They claimed that many were not informed as to where their cars had been towed to.

“This is a shock to shoppers, especially those from other areas and who are unfamiliar with the enforcement,” they said.

“MBDK is employing third-party contractors to tow cars,” said the group, claiming that the contractors act “mercilessly” against shoppers in Jalan Tengku Kelana.

“MBDK should instead deploy its officers or Rela officers to help control traffic and parking.”
