PETALING JAYA: All Malaysians in Türkiye have been advised to stay vigilant and follow the latest developments and guidance provided by local authorities.

This comes after an attack at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) headquarters in Ankara, Türkiye, on Wednesday (Oct 23).

According to Sinar Harian, Wisma Putra, in a statement, informed that the Malaysian Embassy in Ankara is closely monitoring the situation.

"No Malaysians have been reported involved in the attack," it said.

Earlier, media reports stated that two attackers killed five people and injured 22 others in the attack.

The Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, said that the two attackers, who were successfully neutralised, are most likely members of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party.

Witnesses said that employees inside the building were taken to shelters by authorities, and no one was allowed to leave for several hours.

They also reported that explosions were heard, possibly occurring at several exits as workers were leaving to go home.

Witnesses later said that the evacuation of staff from the TUSAS campus had begun, and buses were allowed to leave after the operation was completed.

TUSAS is Türkiye’s largest aerospace manufacturer, currently producing training aircraft, combat helicopters, and civilian helicopters, and is developing the country’s first domestically-produced fighter jet, KAAN.
