Johor cops nab five in anti-crime op


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Three local men and two foreign women have been arrested here during an integrated crime prevention operation.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the suspects, in their 30s to 50s, were detained on Thursday (Oct 24) in an operation led by Iskandar Puteri deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Azlan Abdul Kadir.

He said the operation involved 22 senior officers and 74 rank-and-file personnel from the Iskandar Puteri and Gelang Patah stations.

“The five suspects (are believed to) have committed several offences," ACP Kumarasan said in a statement on Friday (Oct 25).

These suspected offences were under Section 6 of the Second-Hand Dealers Act 1946, Section 372B of the Penal Code for soliciting, Section 6 (1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 and Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“Some 343 individuals, 282 vehicles, six budget hotels and 13 premises dealing in scrap goods were inspected during the operation," said ACP Kumarasan.

He said 93 traffic summonses were also issued.
