Police investigating teenager found dead in Lahad Datu

KOTA KINABALU: A teenager has been found dead in a village in Sabah's east coast Lahad Datu district.

The boy, identified as 17-year Nasir Abdu Hadi, was found by a resident who happened to pass by the area in Kampung Lok Bangga, Tungku at 5.40pm on Wednesday (Oct 20) and immediately alerted police.

Lahad Datu district police chief Asst Comm Dzulbaharin Ismail on Friday (Oct 25) said police did not find any criminal element involving the teenager’s death at the scene where his body was found.

He said that an autopsy report stated the cause of death due to an injury to the head caused by being hit by a hard object.

"The report indicates that he could have sustained a hit by a hard object due to an accident," he said.

The victim is believed to be a foreigner who did not have any documents, he said, adding that investigations were being carried out into the sudden death.

ACP Dzulbaharin urged the public with any information about this incident to contact police.

He said they could contact the Tungku police station or Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 017-8293359.
