RM330,000 worth of cigs seized

KOTA BARU: Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle in 300,000 sticks of cigarettes worth about RM330,000 in Pasir Mas near here.General Operations Force South-East Brigade Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the cigarettes were seized at 1am on Thursday during the Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan patrol.

The cigarettes were concealed in brown boxes hidden in a bushy area, he said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

In a separate case, the police arrested four individuals, including a woman, suspected of being involved in human trafficking after they tried to bypass a roadblock at Banggol Kong in Pasir Mas, at 5.30pm on Thursday.

Nik Ros Azhan said the suspects were travelling in a car and behaving suspiciously.

He said two of the suspects were locals, while the remaining two were Chinese nationals who failed to provide valid identification documents and were suspected of entering Malaysia through illegal routes.

“Police seized the car valued at RM150,000 and five mobile phones worth RM14,000,” he added.
