SHAH ALAM: The eagerly-anticipated e.MAS 7 from Proton will be priced from RM120,000 upwards.

Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (Pro-Net), the electric vehicle (EV) unit of Proton, made the announcement here yesterday as it revealed that the upcoming all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) will be available in two variants, Prime and Premium.

The Prime, priced around RM120,000, comes with a 49.2kWh (kilowatt-hour) high-voltage battery pack for a range of 345km when tested under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).

The battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes with an 80kW DC charger, and 4.9 hours if an 11kW AC charger is used.

The Premium, with its price still not disclosed, gets a higher capacity battery of 60.22kWh for a range of 410km.

Charging this battery pack from 30% to 80% takes 20 minutes if a 100kW DC charger is used, and 6.1 hours if an 11kW AC charger is connected.

The e.MAS 7 claims the best-in-industry electric drive unit, with an efficiency of 90.4%.

Output is rated at 160kW with 320Nm of torque.

Features include six airbags, leatherette seats, a two-spoke steering wheel, 19-inch aerodynamic wheels, a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, and a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Also included are a 360-degree camera and a comprehensive Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

Open for booking now, early birds who put money down for an e.MAS 7 will get a pioneer privilege deal with RM500 off and a pioneer gift package worth RM1,000.

The vehicle is a joint-development by Proton and its partner and shareholder Geely Holdings, with the model sharing underpinnings with the Geely Galaxy E5 EV.

The e.MAS 7 is slated for launch at the end of the year.
