KL Halloween-themed party goers spooked by police raid

KUALA LUMPUR: A party-like atmosphere turned chaotic as many patrons tried to flee a police raid at an entertainment outlet in the city.

However, their attempts were thwarted by police officers early on Sunday (Oct 27) morning.

The club was decorated with Halloween-themed decorations and pamphlets promoting a fright night event.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said 10 individuals were detained during the raid.

"The raiding team inspected 94 individuals, including four outlet workers, in the operation codenamed 'Ops Noda #KLStrikeForce' at about 3.47am.

"Nine individuals, including three foreign women aged between 21 and 54, were detained following the inspections.

"We also detained a woman, believed to be the outlet's caretaker, to assist with the investigation," he said when contacted on Sunday.

Comm Rusdi said the operation was conducted by 31 officers and personnel from KL and Wangsa Maju CID's Anti-vice, Gambling, and Secret Societies Division (D7).

"A team from the Immigration Department also assisted in the raid," he added.

Comm Rusdi said several items of equipment were also seized.

"Those detained were brought to the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters for further action," he said.

Comm Rusdi then said that the investigation showed the outlet was operating without a licence.

"We will conduct similar raids in the future," he added.
