KUALA KRAI: The Fire and Rescue Department has successfully captured a python measuring about 7m long and weighing 240kg which devoured three goats belonging to residents of Kampung Ngangah here.

Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station chief Nik Ahmad Afsham Nik Pa said they received a call from a farmer at 7.15am on Sunday (Oct 27), alerting them that the snake had taken refuge inside a goat pen next to his house after swallowing a mother goat and her two kids.

"In response, a team consisting of three members of the Guchil Volunteer Fire Brigade and seven members of the Kuala Krai fire station was dispatched to the scene

"The operation to capture the python took about 10 minutes," Nik Ahmad said, adding that the snake was sluggish and unable to escape after gorging on its meal.

The reptile was handed over to the Kuala Krai Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) for further action. – Bernama
