BAGAN DATUK: Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan have finalised their cooperation to face the upcoming Sabah elections.
Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic), who is also Deputy Prime Minister, said the agreement between the two coalitions forms the foundation for cooperation for the state polls.
"We have never shut the door on cooperation with Sabah coalitions or any partnerships with existing parties in the state and we will not use the old approach that there is no chance of negotiations.
"So what (Sabah Barisan chairman Datuk Seri) Bung Moktar Radin said suits the political landscape in Sabah and also applies to the political situation at national level," he said when met at a Deepavali-related gathering at the Bagan Datuk Umno Complex here on Sunday (Oct 27).
The Umno president was asked to comment on Bung Moktar's statement that there were unofficial talks with Sabah Pakatan to work with Barisan for the Sabah state election.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said that detailed discussions with other parties would be held at an appropriate time and did not reject the possibility that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition, currently running Sabah, would work with Barisan and Pakatan for the state election.
"I have met with GRS' main leaders but we did not hold specific talks, rather a general discussion to form an understanding.
"Various possibilities will occur in Sabah and I think politics there is very dynamic," he added. – Bernama
