DISGRACED Chinese billionaire Zhou Zhengyi has made a comeback on social media selling agricultural products, reported China Press.
The 63-year-old, who was once touted Shanghai’s richest man by Forbes in 2002, appeared alongside social media influencer Yu Wenhong in a live broadcast where they sold products from Xinjiang.
“Many people asked me how I was able to befriend ‘President Yu’ who is so fierce. I tell them that not only have we become friends, but we can even become another type of friend.
“We all have a chance as she is single and so am I,” he said.
Social media users agreed that it was okay for Zhou to court Yu as he had separated from his businesswoman wife Mao Yuping.
Despite their separation, Zhou said he maintains good ties with Mao and even learned from her how to create content on the Douyin platform.
Zhou profited from the real estate boom from late 1990s to early 2000s, making him once the 11th richest man in China.
In 2007, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for stock manipulation and fraud. He was released from the jail in September 2020 following a reduced sentence.
