People inspected during a night club raid in Sandakan.

KOTA KINABALU: Teenagers were among 12 foreigners nabbed from a night club in Sandakan district during an Immigration raid late Monday.

The suspects, who are Filipino and Vietnamese, were arrested under the suspicion of misusing their visitors’ and social visit pass to work, said State Immigration Department director Datuk Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof in a statement, Tuesday (Oct 29).

She said in the 11.24pm raid, a group of immigration officials had entered the nightclub and inspected a total of 35 people, out of which 12 people aged between 15 and 38 were arrested.

The 12 comprised three Filipinas, a Vietnamese man and eight Vietnamese women, she said.

The teenagers arrested include two Vietnamese (aged 15 and 17) and a 16-year-old Filipina.

A 53-year-old local man was also apprehended to facilitate probes under the Immigrations Act, said Sitti.

She warned the public against harbouring illegal immigrants and urged the public to provide information to the authorities if they suspect something amiss happening around them.
