No significant threat from Typhoon Kong-Rey, says MetMalaysia


KOTA KINABALU: Typhoon Kong-Rey, approximately 1,660km north-east of Kudat, does not pose any significant threat to Malaysia, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In an advisory issued on Tuesday (Oct 29), MetMalaysia said the typhoon was located about 770km north-east of Manila, the Philippines.

Based on observations at 8am, MetMalaysia said the typhoon was moving west to north-west at a speed of 15kph, and winds could reach up to 130kph. – Bernama
