Batang Kali: Authorities ordered two eateries in Batang Kali after cross-contaminated food, cockroaches, mosquito larvae, and other hygene violations were discovered during an inspection.
The Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Department, in collaboration with the Enforcement, Building, and Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) Licensing Departments, conducted the integrated operation called Ops Suci to assess the cleanliness of food premises.
The operation was conducted on Monday (Oct 28). It involved 22 personnel, and two food premises were inspected.
During the inspection, the authorities discovered several issues, including cross-contamination of ingredients in the refrigerator used for storage, food handlers not wearing closed shoes, dusty and web-covered walls, and improperly cleaned chicken eggs.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the MPHS wrote that there were signs of cockroaches and mosquito larvae found at the premises.
They also said that the premises failed to implement registered pest control measures as required by the Poisons Board, and several other hygiene-related violations under MPHS standards.
In response, 3 compounds were issued under UUK 9, UUK 34, and UUK 19 (1)(d), as well as a Closure Instruction Notice under UUK 62 of the UUK Food Establishment 2007.
The MPHS hopes that these strict measures will serve as a warning to owners and operators of other food premises to maintain cleanliness and ensure food safety in their establishments for the well-being of consumers.
