Motorcyclist killed in crash with jeep in Ipoh


IPOH: A 25-year-old man lost his life after his motorcycle collided with a jeep on Jalan Tambun.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed that the motorcyclist died on the spot on Thursday (Oct 31) at about 9am.

Prior to the accident, the jeep was turning onto Jalan Tambun from Tambun New Village.

The motorcyclist, travelling towards the city from Tanjung Rambutan, could not stop in time and crashed into the right side of the jeep.

The victim suffered severe chest injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

A post-mortem at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital revealed the cause of death was a chest injury from the collision.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving causing death.

The jeep driver, aged 77, was uninjured.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin advised people to drive courteously and always wear safety belts or helmets.

He urged adherence to traffic laws to ensure safety for all road users.

He also called for anyone with information about the accident to assist in investigations by contacting Insp Mohamad Faiz Abdul Khalim at 018-372 8477 or visiting the nearest police station.
