A MAN was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 for operating an illegal car ride service charging up to RM400, Sinar Harian reported.

Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Azrin Borhan said the Honda BRV driver was seen soliciting customers at Terminal 2 on Tuesday night.

Azrin said the driver was held for further investigation and his vehicle was impounded.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the tout was persuading and offering transport services to two Chinese nationals.

“The two tourists intended to travel to Kluang, Johor, with a fare of RM400 being charged.

“The investigation found that the tourists were to make the payment upon arrival at their destination,” said Azrin.

He said any persons found guilty of providing unlicensed car rental services could face penalties under Section 205 (1) of the Land Public Transport Act.

He also said that upon conviction, offenders could be fined up to RM50,000 or face imprisonment of up to five years, or both.
