Top honours for Sultan’s birthday

Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal leads list of Perak state honourees

IPOH: Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad heads the list of 213 recipients of honours and awards in conjunction with the 68th birthday of Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

Syed Danial, along with Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi and Yee Lee Corporation executive chairman Datuk Lim Kok Cheong @ Lim A Heng will be conferred the Dato’ Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak award, which carries the title “Datuk Seri”.

Economy Ministry secretary-general Datuk Nor Azmie Diron will be conferred the Dato’ Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini award, which carries the title “Datuk”.

In addition, eight individuals will be conferred the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak award which carries the title “Datuk”.

The recipients include Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff, Perak Islamic Religious Department director Harith Fadzilah Abdul Halim, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun otorhinolaryngology department head Dr Philip Rajan and New Straits Times Press Bhd leader writer Abdul Rahim Mydin.

Abdul Rahim is also a former PETRONAS communications department general manager.

Malaysia National Library director-general Salasiah Abdul Wahab, Prime Minister’s Department advisory board chairman Yong Zarida Sazali, Malaysian Ambassador to the Netherlands Roseli Abdul and Perak Mentri Besar Incorporated chief executive officer Anuar Zainal Abidin will also be bestowed the title “Datuk”.

There will be five recipients of the Dato’ Pahlawan Taming Sari award, which carries the title “Datuk Pahlawan”.

They are federal Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Bukit Aman Special Branch director Comm Datuk Mohd Khalid Ismail, Perak Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief Senior Asst Comm Ng Kong Soon, Malaysian Armed Forces engineering services division director-general Mejar-Jen CSM Thevendran, Malaysian Armed Forces obstetrics and gynaecology specialist Brig-Jen Dr Sharifah Sofiah Syed Zainol and Royal Malaysian Navy Region 1 commander Laksamana Muda Farizal Myeor.

Meanwhile, 13 individuals will receive the Paduka Cura Si Manja award, 28 are recipients of the Paduka Mahkota Perak award, 14 individuals will be given the Ahli Cura Si Manja Kini award, 39 individuals will get the Ahli Mahkota Perak award while 61 will receive the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih award.

The Pingat Jasa Kebaktian will be conferred on 30 individuals, including national lawn bowlers Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple and Aleena Ahmad Nawawi, muay thai exponent Nur Amisha Azrilrizal and sepak takraw player Meor Mohamad Zulfikar Mat Amin, while 10 others will receive the Pingat Lama Perkhidmatan long service award.

The investiture ceremony will be held over two sessions on Nov 9 and Nov 16 at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.

Orang Kaya Bendahari Seri Maharaja Jen (Rtd) Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin said a special lunch spread will be prepared for 7,800 prisoners and detainees in five institutions in the state, namely the Tapah and Taiping prisons, Kamunting Correctional Centre, Batu Gajah Rehabilitation Centre and State Prison Intermediate House (Kinta and Taiping).

He also said several programmes will be held for the public in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin’s birthday.

These include the Hari Keputeraan Run, followed by an exhibition on the royal institution.

“The year 2028 marks the 500th year of the Perak Sultanate.

“We will discuss the activities to be held,” he said at a press conference at Laman Seri Ridzuan yesterday.
