KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s unique beauty lies in its rich diversity, where people of different cultures come together to celebrate each other’s festivals in harmony, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Embracing this spirit, the MCA president visited MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran on Deepavali, underscoring the unity that defines the nation.

“This is the unique beauty of our country, rich in diversity.

“We celebrate festivals together in a harmonious spirit, which is our strength in a multicultural country,” said Dr Wee.

Dr Wee was accompanied by MCA vice-president Datuk Lawrence Low. “Happy Deepavali to Tan Sri Vicky and his family,” he said in a post on his Facebook page yesterday.

He added that the visit to Vigneswaran’s house was made even more cheerful by the presence of various segments of the community.

Among those present at Vigneswaran’s house were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Also present were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister (Miti) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup.

Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, former defence minister Datuk Seri Hishammudin Hussein and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin were also present.

Dr Wee noted he was glad to have met many friends and celebrate the festive season with them.

After visiting Vigneswaran’s home, he said they also made their way to the home of MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, to celebrate Deepavali.

Meanwhile, Vigneswaran also thanked all his fellow Barisan Nasional component party leaders and comrades, ministers and leaders of all levels of society for attending his Deepavali open house event.

“My family and I are truly honoured by your presence.

“May the bonds between all of us remain strong. Happy Deepavali to everyone!” he said on his Facebook page.

He also shared several pictures taken among the leaders during the event.
