Fuji Oil signs agreement to build refinery in Kota Tinggi

JOHOR BARU: Japanese oils and fats company Fuji Oil Asia Pte Ltd has signed an agreement with Johor Plantations Group Bhd to construct a refinery in Kota Tinggi.

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the refinery for speciality oils and fats was expected to be completed by mid-2026.

"The project, with an initial development value of RM500mil, will be part of the Integrated Sustainable Palm Oil Complex in Pasir Logok, Kota Tinggi," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Nov 3).

Onn Hafiz said he recently led a delegation from the Johor government to visit Fuji Oil Holdings Inc, the parent company of Fuji Oil Asia, in Osaka, Japan.

During the visit, the delegation observed their operations, which focus on food and raw materials production for various sectors.

"We also toured their factory, including terminal tanks and refinery and saw how chocolates were produced at the facilities," he added.

He said Fuji Oil also showcased products made with their materials available in the market and convenience stores.

"I am confident that the cooperation between Fuji Oil and Johor Plantations Group will benefit both parties in the food production and processing sector.

"This will be complemented by training and skills development for the local workforce, enhancing the competitiveness of the industry in Johor," Onn Hafiz added.
