Skeletal remains discovered near Balik Pulau durian orchard

BALIK PULAU: Police have discovered suspected human skeletal remains near a temple at a durian orchard on Friday (Nov 1).

Balik Pulau OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said police also found crushed phone fragments, a cup, a wire spool, an iron pot, and fan fragments near the remains.

"Police received a call at 12.35pm from the public informing them about the discovery of the human bones," he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 3).

ACP Sazalee said the initial investigation at the scene identified several bones and a site with a pile of soil containing a suspected human skeleton.

He added that further investigation revealed that the location where the remains were found was on a hillside in a durian orchard in the Pulau Betong area.

He said the remains were taken to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death and added that the police have yet to identify the victim.

"Investigations are ongoing, pending the results of the post-mortem and forensic report," added ACP Sazalee
