US issues sanctions on six Malaysian companies

PETALING JAYA: The US State Department has issued sanctions on six Malaysian companies over links to Russia and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The six companies listed are Zeolite Mansford Sdn Bhd, Centrina United Sdn Bhd, Gyntec Carbon Sdn Bhd, Moralability Industry Sdn Bhd and Melix Global Sdn Bhd.

In a press release issued on Wednesday (Oct 30), the US State Department said that the sanctioned companies are among 120 individuals and entities across several nations.

"It is aimed at disrupting sanctions evasion and targeting entities in multiple third countries, including the China, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates," it said.

It added that these designations are aimed at targeting producers, exporters and importers of items critical to Russia’s military-industrial base.

"Those items include microelectronics and computer numerical control items as identified by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security alongside the European Union, United Kingdom and Japan.
