Autistic teen found dead in Sungai Muar

MUAR: A 14-year-old autistic boy who had been missing for about two days was found dead in Sungai Muar.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz reported that the teenager’s father lodged a police report at around 3.25pm on Sunday (Nov 3) after realising that his son had not returned home the night before.

The boy, who had a disabled person’s card for autism (hyperactive), was last seen at their home in Bakri at about 11.30pm on Saturday (Nov 2).

According to the 50-year-old father, the boy frequently leaves their house without his knowledge. The father also holds a disabled person’s card due to visual impairment.

ACP Raiz Mukhliz stated that police received public information about an object floating near the Marina Bay jetty at about 7.30am on Monday (Nov 4).

The body was retrieved, and checks showed that the boy’s appearance and clothing matched the description provided by his father.

The teenager's body was sent to Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah Muar for a post-mortem examination, and the case has been classified as a sudden death report.

He also urged anyone with information related to the case to assist in the investigation by calling the Muar police headquarters hotline at 06-956 6001 or by visiting the nearest police station.
