Human remains found near temple

BALIK PULAU: Suspected human skeletal remains have been found near a temple at a durian orchard here.

Balik Pulau OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said police received a call from the public at 12.35pm on Friday about the discovery of suspected human bones at the site.

“Investigations led police to the discovery of several bones and a skeleton near a temple located on a hillside in the durian orchard at the Pulau Betong area.

“There were also crushed fragments of a handphone, cup, spool of wire, pot and broken parts of a fan near the remains,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

ACP Sazalee said the remains were brought to Hospital Penang for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death, adding that police had yet to identify the victim.
