US sanctions imposed on six M’sian firms

PETALING JAYA: Six Malaysian companies have had sanctions imposed by the US State Department over their alleged links to Russia and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

They are Zeolite Mansford Sdn Bhd, Centrina United Sdn Bhd, Gyntec Carbon Sdn Bhd, Moralability Industry Sdn Bhd, and Melix Global Sdn Bhd.

The State Department said these companies were among 120 individuals and entities across several nations that have had sanctions imposed on them.

The sanctions are aimed at producers, exporters and importers of items critical to Russia’s military-industrial base, it said in a statement issued on Oct 30.

These items include microelectronics and computer numerical control items as identified by the US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security along with the European Union, United Kingdom and Japan, it said.

“The State Department’s designations are aimed at disrupting sanctions evasion and targets entities in multiple third countries, including China, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates,” it added.
