Cops nab 48 following raids on unlicensed entertainment outlets in Kepong, Puchong


SHAH ALAM: Forty-eight individuals, including three locals, were detained following raids on two entertainment outlets in Kepong and Puchong.

The raids were conducted by the Selangor anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division (D7) in an operation codenamed "Ops Noda".

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the first raid was conducted at a shop house in Desa Aman Puri, Kepong, at about 11.30pm on Thursday (Oct 31).

"We detained a local and 24 foreigners.

"We seized several items, including an amplifier, a laptop, three microphones and RM528 cash," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 5).

All those detained were remanded until Nov 4, he said.

"The remand for the locals was extended to Nov 5 while the foreigners are being held for further remand of 14 days for Immigration offences," he said.

In the second raid, Comm Hussein said police officers raided a shop house in Puchong Utama industrial park at about 11.30pm on Friday (Nov 1).

"We detained 21 foreigners and two locals.

"Several items were seized including a speaker, a karaoke machine, a mixer, an audio management system, microphones, lighting and RM175 cash," he said.

The two locals were remanded a day and released on police bail, he said.

"The foreigners were remanded for 14 days for Immigration offences," he said.

Both premises were operating without licences, Comm Hussein said.

"We urge those with information on any criminal activities to contact the nearest police stations," he said.
