Mohd Khamil Jamil is new UiTM board of directors chairman


PUTRAJAYA: Former DRB-Hicom Berhad Group managing director Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil has been appointed as the new chairman of the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Board of Directors.

Higher Education Ministry, in a statement Tuesday (Nov 5), said the appointment of Mohd Khamil, succeeding Prof Emeritus Datuk Raduan Che Rose, took effect from Nov 4 until Nov 3, 2027.

According to the ministry, Mohd Khamil is a well-known figure in the country's higher education sector, with extensive experience holding various positions in higher education institutions throughout his career.

It also noted that Mohd Khamil, who holds a law degree, has previously served as Board chairman and Pro-Chancellor of DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia.

He has also served as the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) from 2013 to 2014, and as a Board Member of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) from 2014 to 2016, the statement read.

"The Ministry is confident that with the appointment, Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil will be able to enhance the professional governance of UiTM through new strategic planning that involves various stakeholders, aiming to strengthen UiTM and make it more competitive as a comprehensive university in Malaysia,” it added. – Bernama
