Police to investigate cat abuse incident in Pandan Jaya

AMPANG: Police are investigating a man believed to have abused a cat in Pandan Jaya.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail stated that the complainant, a 26-year-old Indonesian woman, reported hearing a cat making noise outside her flat in Pandan Jaya at about 10am on Friday (Nov 1).

She then saw her neighbour, a man in his 60s, abusing the cat by putting it in a large net.

The man dragged the cat down to the ground floor, Mohd Azam said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 5).

The complainant, her husband, and other residents attempted to persuade the man to release the cat.

The man allegedly abused the cat because it often defecated in front of his home, Mohd Azam added.

Police also discovered a 1 minute, 39 seconds video on social media platform "X," depicting the incident.

The video has already garnered 563,000 views.

Police are investigating further under Section 428 of the Penal Code, Section 29(1)(e) of the Animals Welfare Act, and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Act.
