A YOUNG boy who was rescued during the 2021 floods by Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari received a surprise Deepavali visit from the Selangor Mentri Besar, Makkal Osai reported.

Amirudin was helping out in the rescue efforts at the severely inundated Sri Muda, Shah Alam, area back in December 2021 when he came across Kiyash Kumar’s family.

He helped carry the infant out of the family’s flooded home.

During the recent Deepavali celebration, Amirudin surprised the boy, now three, and his family with a visit at their home.

Amirudin, accompanied by a group, handed out festive gifts to the family and joined them for lunch.

> A couple in Tamil Nadu have been arrested after beating their 16-year-old maid to death and leaving her body in their home for two days while they went to their friends’ homes to celebrate Deepavali, Malaysia Nanban reported.

On Deepavali, the couple allegedly beat the maid before making her take a shower.

When the girl did not emerge from the shower, they broke down the door and found her lifeless.

The frightened couple then went to stay with their friends, returning only the day after Deepavali.
