Cops waiting for Armed Forces' findings into alleged bullying incident

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are awaiting the Armed Forces' Investigation Board's findings regarding the alleged bullying of a Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) cadet, which will be presented on Friday (Nov 8).

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the investigation board's findings and decision should be notified to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) for further instruction and action.

"We are still waiting for the AGC's instruction after the investigation paper has been completed and referred to them for review.

"The AGC is still reviewing the police investigation paper, and it might lead to a prosecution," he told a press conference at the KL Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) headquarters on Thursday (Nov 7).

The outcome of the Armed Forces' investigation board probe could lead to various disciplinary actions, he said.

"There are two situations. Sometimes, the investigation board's findings could be considered for a decision in the police investigation.

"Another scenario is separate action could be taken based on the outcome of the two respective investigations," he said.

On Thursday, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the Armed Forces' Investigation Board, which is investigating the alleged bullying of a Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) cadet, will conclude its findings on Friday.

He said he expects the board to finish its investigation on Friday.

"We will decide on further action to be taken once the board submit its findings and recommendations," he said.
