No foul play in infant's sudden death, says cops

NILAI: Police have ruled out foul play in the death of a seven-month-old baby boy who had been left under the care of his babysitter.

Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said a post-mortem carried out on the deceased found no external or internal injury on him.

"The cause of death has been stated as undetermined. The case has since been classified as sudden death," he said in a statement.

Supt Abdul Malik said police received a call about the case from the KLIA Kuarters health clinic around 12.45pm on Nov 6.

The baby was rushed to the clinic by the babysitter, who lived in the KLIA Kuarters residential area.

"Based on a preliminary probe, the babysitter had put the baby to sleep in a cot after he was sent to her house by his parents around 7.30am.

"When she tried to wake him up later to bathe him, she could not do so," he said.

Supt Abdul Malik said initial physical checks carried out by the police on the deceased did not show any physical injury. A post-mortem was later carried out at the Rembau Hospital.

He advised the public not to speculate about the case as this could jeopardise the police probe.
