PETALING JAYA: PAS and Bersatu have extended their congratulations to United States President Donald Trump on his re-election to office.

"On behalf of the Islamic Party of Malaysia, I would like to extend our congratulations to Donald Trump, hoping he will prioritise a peace-oriented agenda, as emphasised during his campaign," PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 7).

"We urge President Trump not to yield to the demands of Israel in the Middle East, as this could foster resentment towards the US among Muslims. We also hope that with this victory, the world will experience a term free from global conflicts, fostering stability and international understanding," he added.

Meanwhile, Bersatu Youth chief Muhammad Hilman Idham expressed hope that Trump would fulfil his promise to take decisive steps to end hostilities in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the conflict in Palestine.

"Efforts are essential to prevent further loss of life and to create conditions that will enable people across the region to pursue a better future. We are optimistic that President Trump will prioritise humanitarian values, leading to concrete steps towards lasting peace and stability in Palestine and throughout the Middle East," Muhammad added.
