Review of M'sian athletes' Paris Olympics showing set for Nov 14, Dewan Rakyat told

KUALA LUMPUR: A post-mortem session on the Malaysian contingent’s 2024 Olympic Games performance will be held on Nov 14, says Hannah Yeoh.

The Youth and Sports Minister said the session would be organised through the National Sports Council (NSC) and involve relevant stakeholders.

This includes national coaches, representatives from national sports associations, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and the National Sports Institute (ISN).

“The results will be used to develop a strategy for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games," she told the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Nov 7).

“The NSC will also look at developing talents in other sports such as skateboarding, climbing, and surfing ahead of the 2028 Olympics, which have been deemed to be other potential medal-earners for us in the future.

“Existing medal-winning sports in Malaysia will also continue to receive the attention they need to develop."

Yeoh also revealed that RM13.2mil was spent on the ministry's Road to Gold programme (RTG) for this year's games.

“RTG’s accounts are being audited and I will (disclose them) once the audit is finished,” she added.

Ramkarpal Singh (PH-Bukit Gelugor) had asked about the government’s plans to develop and improve the country's athletes ahead of the next Olympic games.
