HONG Kong superstar Eason Chan (pic) surprised fans in Quanzhou, China, by performing a song not heard live for the past 18 years, reported Sin Chew Daily.
“Many people may not have heard of this song because I have not performed it for a very long time. It is a song from my first Cantonese album,” he said.
Concertgoers cheered as Chan, 50, began the first verse of Hurtful Letter.
It was reported that in the late 1990s, the singer had complained that the lyrics did not fit the song’s melody.
Chan’s last known performance of the tune was in 2006.
He held six shows in the southern city in Fujian province between Oct 25 and Nov 3.
Meanwhile, Chan has announced on Weibo that he will be singing the opening theme for the second season of the adult animated steampunk action-adventure TV show Arcane.
“This song has a story which I can’t wait to share with everyone!” he wrote.
> Also in China, a woman was hailed as a hero after being knocked down by a wild boar while protecting a child, China Press reported.
CCTV footage showed a group of children playing in the street in Anhui province when the animal charged.
All the children, save for a toddler on his tricycle, fled.
A female bystander immediately pulled the child away and tried to carry him to safety.
However, before they could enter a building, the wild boar charged at them, knocking both of them down.
Fortunately, it stopped attacking them and targeted a car parked nearby instead.
According to a spokesperson from the Liufu town police station, the woman suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a hospital.
The wild boar was shot dead, he said.
The spokesperson added that the locals had a custom of sweeping tombs on the first day of the 10th lunar month, which fell on Nov 1 this year.
He believed the sound of firecrackers lit when families were visiting cemeteries that day had startled the wild boar living in the woods, causing it to go on a rampage in the town.
